Job Summary:
The Facilities Support Technician will report operationally to the SOMSS Program Manager and be assigned work by the Designated Government Representative (DGR) in charge for 10th Space Operations Squadron (10 SOPS). The Facilities Support Technician is responsible for providing facilities services that include equipment maintenance, environmental and safety compliance services to ensure facilities are maintained in a condition that is conducive to and supportive of operational performance needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct minor facility requirements that encompass industrial trades such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry and woodworking, general maintenance, fire prevention systems, communications, minor Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
- Support facility maintenance requirements in coordination with the 10 SOPS Facilities Manager and Public Works Center (PWC) for those PWC areas of responsibility, to include constant monitoring of any facilities work being conducted in the secure areas of the command, and monitoring of contractors performing facilities maintenance within the 10 SOPS compound
- Prepare and submit for DGR approval, an annual an annual update to the Facilities PM Plan to maintain all facilities and support equipment. The PM plan update shall address all changes that occurred in 10 SOPS facilities and support equipment based on the manufacturer’s recommended PM
- Perform PM according to the approved plan and record and track PM requirements and accomplishments
- Report monthly PM planned and accomplished to the DGR
- Identify any additional needed repairs during the performance of PM and document those repairs using an inspection report as the catalyst for generating a service call
- Complete corrective actions as needed to ensure facilities and equipment are restored to a safe working condition and function properly
- Originate PWC service call requirements (corrective actions) using MAXIMO
- Monitor and track trouble ticket status and progress and report the status to DGR weekly
- Provide immediate response to emergency corrective actions and arrest emergent conditions to minimize and mitigate damage to facilities and equipment, operational capabilities, and danger to personnel
- Conduct follow up actions and coordinate with PWC to ensure full restoration of facilities and equipment to operational condition
- Be responsible for coordinating and ensuring all corrective actions are satisfied through self-performance and in coordination with PWC
- Coordinate regularly scheduled maintenance of 1 GSA leased vehicle and PWC assigned equipment (e.g., the forklift and man-lift). If repairs are beyond the capabilities of the PWC service shop, PWC will arrange for repairs to be performed by a GSA designated service shop
- Deliver vehicles to PWC or designated service shops for pre-approved maintenance and repairs, retrieve vehicles when the service has been completed
- Immediately notify the DGR in writing of any problems with the vehicles or PWC assigned equipment and will verify completion of repairs to the DGR
- Coordinate PWC assigned equipment and vehicle maintenance and repair requirements with the DGR to work out an acceptable schedule for temporary loss of use
- Maintain the cleanliness of all vehicles and ensure adequate fuel levels are maintained. fuel will be purchased using the government fuel card
- Perform weekly cursory inspections of vehicles, report any problems to DGR, and when needed arrange for PWC assistance to correct any problems
Required Skills/Qualifications: 2-5 years’ of demonstrated proficiency and experience in building/facility maintenance.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications: License or certification in one of the building trades.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma
- Military Facilities/Logistics training certifications
Work Environment: Job is normally performed indoors in an industrial setting, with computer rooms and large antennas, this will also require work across various facilities, as well as outdoors.
Physical Demands:
- Walking, sitting, typing, bending, climbing, and lifting items as required within position requirements
- Must be able to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to climb ladders
